Nothing Stays the Same

Spent the day in bed today
to avoid myself
and the weight of being alone.
Slept the day away today,
into the night...then slept again until after dawn.

No one knows how I feel.
I don’t want to see what is real.
I just want to wake up and see that everything has changed,
But nothing ever changes,
even though nothing stays the same.

Couldn't find the strength to stand today,
much less the strength to walk...
Couldn’t even crawl.
Wish I could wash it all away--this filth that surrounds me--
wish I could escape it all.

No one knows how I feel.
I don’t want to see what is real.
I just want to wake up and see that everything has changed,
But nothing ever changes,
even though nothing stays the same.
